On this page you will find information about our Preschool, Kindergarten, and Mixed-Age Classrooms.
The Montessori Educational Method is probably the world’s first brain-based educational method – believed by many to be the best. The method is hands-on learning at its best, allowing the child to develop self-expression, collaboration, and responsibility in a classroom that promotes happiness, respect, and joy of learning. Long before we could look at the brain with MRIs, Dr. Montessori developed an educational method to help a child’s brain develop. Dr. Montessori’s method has been time tested, with more than 100 years of success around the world.
Montessori School at Goose Creek Preserve serves children from ages 2½ to 6. Our teachers guide students through lessons and activities that both tease the child’s curiosity and are tailored to the skill level of each individual child, providing an environment that recognizes and encourages a sense of independence.
Preschool Years (ages 2½ to 4)
At Montessori School at Goose Creek Preserve, the Half Day Preschool Program hours are 8:45 a.m. to noon. Extended Day hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Montessori Full Day Program hours are 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Full Day Program includes a lunch period, a rest period, and additional play time on the playground and in the classrooms.
Two-, 3- and 4-year old children have absorbent minds that soak up knowledge like a sponge. The Montessori method includes the use of sensorial materials such as the Pink Tower to give the child a concrete impression of “big” and “small,” and the Red Rods to provide a concrete impression of “long” and “short.” These impressions serve as the foundation for a lifetime of learning.

The Kindergarten Year (ages 5 to 6)
Beginning in the 2019 school year, Montessori School at Goose Creek Preserve will offer a Kindergarten Program for children who have completed our Preschool Program and who turn 5 years old before September 30th. Children enrolled Half Day stay for lunch and an additional work period in the afternoon. Children enrolled Full Day have an additional work period in the afternoon instead of a rest period.
The 5-6-year-old period is the transition year between the absorbent mind and the rational mind. Our Montessori Kindergarten Program builds on the foundation of learning achieved in the first 2 or 3 years in the Montessori environment. It not only allows the child to serve as a role model to the younger students, it also allows him to remain with teachers and students he already knows in a safe and supportive classroom.

Mixed-age Classrooms (ages 2½ to 6)
By integrating our preschoolers and kindergartners into single classrooms, Montessori School at Goose Creek provides the opportunity for the older children to help the younger ones. They can be leaders and reinforce their own learning and knowledge by working with the younger children. In this environment, learning is pleasurable for both the kindergartners and their younger classmates. Reading to an audience of adoring 3- and -4-year olds is much more enjoyable than the traditional classroom method of having each child take a turn reading a sentence until the paragraph or story is complete. Interaction between mixed-aged children allows the kindergarteners to practice responsibility, to be leaders, and to teach and help others.
